Distribution of Heavy Metals in Water and Bottom Sediments in the Basin of Lake Gusinoe (Russia): Ecological Risk Assessment

چکیده

Fresh water scarcity is considered a significant component, and potentially one of the most critical, global climate change. With rapid development industry, there an increasing risk freshwater contamination by heavy metals (HMs). The danger HM pollution also attributed to their accumulation, which can subsequently become source secondary in aquatic environments. In Lake Gusinoe basin, located Russia, concentrations HMs were measured both bottom sediments within lake area, as well inflowing outflowing watercourses. Ecological indices calculated for basin. Our results showed that average Fe, Zn, Cr, Ni, Cd, Pb did not exceed maximum allowable (MACs) set Russian national standards WHO standards, while Mn Cu exceeded corresponding MACs during winter, spring, autumn possibly due decomposition vegetation influx from groundwater sources. investigated BSs background values. hazard index indicated low all samples area. For BS samples, geoaccumulation (Igeo) Pollution Load Index (PLI) levels, values Enrichment Factor (EF) Contamination (CF) moderate central part lake. Risk (Er) at points near major settlements Tel River pollution. Potential (RI) contamination.

Assessment of the distribution, bioavailability and ecological risk assessment of heavy metals in the coastal sediments of Qeshm Island (Hormozgan)

Sediment samples were collected from 8 sites in the northern areas of Qeshm Island, Iran to determine the total and partial concentrations of heavy metals including copper (Cu), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni), cadmium (Cd), and Iron (Fe), in February 2016. A combination of nitric acid and perchloric acid was used to determine the total concentrations and sequential extraction method was used to analyze...

Distribution, sources and ecological risk assessment of heavy metals in surface sediments from Lake Taihu, China

The distribution, sources and ecological risk of heavy metals in surface sediments from Lake Taihu were studied. Results showed that the measured heavy metals had varied spatial distribution patterns, indicating that they had complex origins and controlling factors. Pearson’s correlation analysis revealed that the total phosphorus and the loss on ignition were positively correlated with the mea...

Mineralogical and ecological assessment of heavy metals in the surface sediment of Maharlou Lake, Shiraz, Iran

Maharlou Lake, as the largest water body neighboring to the metropolis of Shiraz, plays a significant role in adjusting the ecosystem of the region. The objective of this study was to evaluate mineralogy and heavy metals enrichment in the surface sediments of the Maharlou Lake. The result showed a decreasing trend of heavy metals concentrations in studied region surface sediments as follows: Sr...

Fraction distribution and risk assessment of heavy metals in sediments of Moshui Lake.

To examine the status and risk of heavy metal pollution in urban lakes, in China, the distribution of several heavy metals (e.g., Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn) in the sediment of Moshui Lake, Hangyang District, Wuhan City, was characterized. The process of rapid urbanization and industrialization of the district was also studied to find out its relationship with the metal accumulation profile in the sedi...
